Chelsea 3-1 Arsenal: Emma Hayes' Side Go Three Points Clear at Top of WSL

Sjoeke Nusken Scores First-Half Double

Chelsea Women extended their lead at the top of the Women's Super League (WSL) to three points with a convincing 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday. After a goalless first half, Sjoeke Nusken gave the Blues the lead in the 49th minute, before doubling her tally just four minutes later. Guro Reiten extended Chelsea's advantage in the 65th minute, with Stina Blackstenius pulling a goal back for Arsenal in the 89th.

Emma Hayes Pleased with Chelsea's Performance

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes was delighted with her team's performance, saying: "It was a great win for us. We started the game well and created a few chances, but we didn't take them. In the second half, we came out with a lot more intensity and we were much more clinical in front of goal. We're now three points clear at the top of the table and we're in a good position to challenge for the title."

Arsenal Manager Jonas Eidevall Disappointed with Result

In contrast, Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall was disappointed with his team's result, saying: "We didn't start the game well and we were punished for our mistakes. We conceded two goals in quick succession and that made it difficult for us to get back into the game. We improved in the second half, but we couldn't create enough clear-cut chances. We need to learn from our mistakes and move on."

Chelsea Women in Control of Title Race

With their victory over Arsenal, Chelsea Women are now in control of the WSL title race. The Blues have a three-point lead over second-placed Arsenal and a game in hand. With just seven games remaining in the season, Chelsea are in a strong position to secure their fourth WSL title in five years.
